Spaceship Earth NOT Closing for Refurbishment

Epcot in 2020

The iconic Spaceship Earth attraction in EPCOT is not closing for refurbishment this summer. However, it could in the near future.

Spaceship Earth at EPCOT was scheduled to close for refurbishments after Memorial Day 2020. And then the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

Walt Disney World recently announced that the ride would remain open in its unaltered form at EPCOT. Though guests have been eager to see a transformation of the attraction, rumors spread that the closure could take months or even years to complete.

Due to park closures, Disney will have to stop or pause future planned projects. However, if Disney has already spent the money on the new scenes for Spaceship Earth, then we expect to see its refurbishment begin next year.

Spaceship Earth’s reimagining would include new scenes, narration, and storytelling effects. While Disney hasn’t announced all of these new scenes, we expect some dazzling new effects for this iconic attraction. However, the similar slow-moving ride system would stay the same.
