Halloween Horror Night is cancelled for 2020 at the Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles.

It’s official: Universal has pulled the plug on its Halloween Horror Nights events this year. Scheduled to run from September through early November, Universal postponed its annual fright fest until 2021. This year was a huge milestone for the event. 2020 marks the 30th run of this gory gala. However, it appears that HHN can make next year its 30th celebration.

It’s not entirely surprising that Universal axed Horror Nights this year. With Universal Studios Hollywood still closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re less than two months away from the start date. Furthermore, Universal was rumored to attempt social distancing queues, but perhaps these didn’t work with the traditional setup. Actors may also have to be placed behind plexiglass which could greatly lower the thrill.

If you purchased tickets, you have options: “Guests who have purchased tickets or vacation packages to Halloween Horror Nights 2020 have the option to use their ticket or vacation package to visit next year’s Halloween Horror Nights event, or they can receive a refund. These options also apply to R.I.P. Tours and Behind the Screams: Unmasking the Horror Tours. Guests who purchased tickets or booked a vacation package can call 877-801-9720 for assistance.”

Rumored houses for this year included Beetlejuice and House on Haunted Hill. However, it appears that guests may have to wait to experience these chills and thrills. Hopefully, the added time will also allow for even more frights.
