The Walt Disney World Resort is celebrating Black History Month with a new attraction featuring characters like Joe Gardner from Pixar’s Soul.
Disney is kicking off Black History Month with an exciting new attraction that celebrates Black music! The Soul of Jazz: An American Adventure will debut on Monday, February 1st and feature Joe Gardner from Pixar’s Soul. The exhibit “showcases historic artifacts of famous jazz musicians” focused mainly on Black American musicians. Find The Soul of Jazz at Epcot in the American Adventure area of World Showcase.
Disney Springs also hosts events which include live music, delicious new offerings, and shopping opportunities. Also look for “soulful” art displays by up-and-coming artists, Bee Harris, Bianca Pastel, Arrington Porter and Cory Van Lew. Live music will go on three days a week, Monday, Thursdays, and Sundays. These days are dubbed “Motown Mondays, Jazz Thursdays and Smooth Sundays”—which we love!
Amorette’s Patisserie will serve fun treats inspired by Soul and The Princess and the Frog. For those staying at Disney Resorts, expect to see Disney films that celebrate Black history like “The Princess and the Frog” as part of the Movies Under the Stars event. These typically take place near pools at the Resorts and are free to staying guests.
