Disney shared several updates for new EPCOT attractions such as Harmonious, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
EPCOT will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2022. Luckily for us, Walt Disney World is planning several new attractions to celebrate this monumental occasion. Some of these rides and experiences are planned to open in time for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World. Today we’re sharing new details released during the IAAPA virtual conference.
Harmonious
Giant pieces of the Harmonious stage craned into EPCOT this year. Disney touts this upcoming lagoon show as “one of the largest nighttime spectaculars ever created.” We don’t doubt it! Harmonious will “wow” fans with lights, Disney music, favorite characters, and plenty of fireworks!
Opening Date: Details haven’t been shared, but rumors point to end of 2020 or early 2021.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
One of Walt Disney World’s most anticipated new attractions is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. This unique roller coaster is “family friendly” and use a unique ride system. The coaster cars can move in different directions (including backward), similar to that of doom buggies in the Haunted Mansion. However, the track can go much faster, sending guests into an indoor galactic adventure like no other! Guardians is also the first Marvel-themed ride in Walt Disney World.
Opening Date: We expect this coaster to launch in late 2022.
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
As it appears, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is complete and ready to ride at EPCOT. However, Disney isn’t quite ready to open the attraction just yet. Since crowd levels are kept at a minimum for social distancing, Disney isn’t planning on debuting a new attraction until more guests can visit the parks. Thus, Disney has slowed the outdoor construction to complete the facade of the ride. The family-friendly trackless attraction is already a fan favorite in Disneyland Paris. We can’t wait for guests to have another ride-through attraction at EPCOT!
Opening Date: Disney confirms that Ratatouille will open in 2021, but has not given a specific date.
