Jurassic Park fans can now meet velociraptors Blue and Baby Sierra at Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure theme park.

The Raptor Encounter exhibit on Jurassic Park Island recently relocated across from its original home. Now closer to the Jurassic Park River Adventure ride, this new character meet is fun and a little terrifying! However, kids seem to love these enormous, scary creatures that grunt and snap at guests.

If you feel that a giant dino may be too scary, drop by at the end of the hour to meet baby Sierra. Though Sierra is a raptor, she’s only six months old and is held by her trainer. The life-like puppet is a lot of fun for the family to experience and take photos with.

With health and safety measures in mind, the revamped attraction opened with social distancing and Team Member masks. For example, Sierra’s handler wears a beige-colored mask that perfectly fits in with the theme. Additionally, ground markers show guests where to stand when snapping photos with the dinosaurs.

Jurassic Park Island appears to be a mash of the original trilogy and the new films. While the River Adventure ride certainly takes place in a 90s version of Jurassic Park, the Raptor Encounter is based off the Jurassic World franchise. Though the theming is a little mixed for us, we still appreciate that all films can be experienced here.
