When will FastPass+ finally return to the Walt Disney World Resort? We explore the possibilities to help plan your upcoming trip!
When the Walt Disney World Resort began its phased reopening back in July, FastPass+ did not return. Now, over half a year later, the popular feature is still missing. So when can guests expect to take advantage of FastPass+ again?
To best answer this, we need to dive into why FastPass+ has not made a comeback. First, the system was designed to help guests have a virtual spot in the queue to skip the long lines. That’s why FastPass+ exists for most popular rides in all four theme parks. However, with limited crowds, several shuttered hotels, and many show attractions still closed, there’s not much of a reason for Disney to bring this feature back—yet.
So when can we expect to start booking FastPasses again? We expect Disney to roll out the feature sometimes later this year, likely in the Fall or early Winter 2021. Of course, this is going to depend on a few factors: how many guests Disney will allow in the parks, what the demand for travel looks like, and how many attractions Disney has open. A big signal that FastPass+ could return soon will be the reopening of many more shows around the parks.

With that said, we hope that FastPass+ comes back soon. One of our biggest complaints about visiting Disney theme parks right now is the lack of dining options—especially for those who want to dine outdoors during the pandemic. With limited hours and dining options, having a FastPass+ feature would greatly help us spend more money at the parks. Just knowing that we have a virtual spot in line gives us reason to shop around Main Street, U.S.A., snack around Epcot, and find a comfortable place to dine. Over the past six or so months, we’ve felt a bit rushed in the parks.
