Disney recently changed its mask policy for eating with stricter rules for guests dining around the theme park resort.
If you’re planning a trip to a Disney theme park in 2021, you’ll want to know about this new mask rule. Facial coverings are still required around all public spaces in the resort. Simply, if you are 2 years or older, you are required to wear a mask unless you’re in your car or hotel room.
However, the dining mask policy got a bit stricter. Before guests could take off their masks as soon as they sat down to dine. Now Disney’s rule is that all guests must wear masks until they begin eating or drinking. From our personal experience, this isn’t a big deal. We have done both, leave our masks on after sitting and taking them off right away. They did not take from our comfort especially since we’ve been walking around the parks all day wearing masks.
Furthermore, if you are snacking around the parks, you’ll still need to sit before removing your mask. Disney’s current mask policy is that all guests must be stationary and away from others before eating or drinking. We highly recommend eating before you enter a longer line for rides and other attractions.

We suspect that Disney made this rule for safety reasons in compliance with CDC guidelines. It’s also very possible that Disney may try to pack the restaurants fuller as spring break and summer approach. This may then more safely allow guests to dine together indoor. Time will tell which turns out to be true!
