Beginning September 8th, Universal’s Volcano Bay water park will close on Tuesday and Thursday dates through the end of 2020.
After layoffs, temporary attraction closures, and postponed hotel dates, Universal is taking a next big step when dealing with low attendance. The Resort’s water park, Volcano Bay, won’t be open on Tuesday and Thursdays beginning September 8th.
On the official calendar, all Tuesday and Thursdays show unavailable through the end of December. However, if guest demand remains low in the new year, we could see this continue even longer. Conversely, if there is a boom in holiday tourism, we may also see dates re-added to the calendar.

Universal expects a big dip in guest attendance after Labor Day weekend. However, we also expect that a spike could occur this holiday season, depending on how much families are itching to travel.
Volcano Bay may see low demand as guests aren’t required to wear masks in the water park. Though this is just speculation, many guests do enjoy the social distancing measures taken on by Universal. However, pool areas Resort wide don’t enforce the wearing of facial coverings.
