Universal’s Volcano Bay water park will remain closed for the season beginning in November and lasting into the spring.
Guests wishing to visit Universal’s Volcano Bay this holiday sadly will miss their chance. The world-class water park is closing for the season beginning November 2nd. Universal expects the water park to be closed until March 1.
While Universal posts this as a seasonal closure, we’d guess that low crowd sizes are a big factor. Last month we reported that Volcano Bay would only be open on select dates, with Tuesday and Thursday blocked out for all guests. However, it now appears that Universal will close the water park into the spring season.

Volcano Bay opened at the Universal Orlando Resort in May 2017. The water park expands roughly 27 acres and hosts dozens of water slides and other attractions. Volcano Bay gets its name from the Krakatau Volcano in the center of the park. Guests plummet through this volcano-like build on high-speed water slides. There is also a wave pool, lazy river, and kids’ area.
Though Volcano Bay is expected to reopen in March, Universal also states that it could open sooner. We expect that crowds may play a huge factor. It’s also very common for water parks to close in the colder months, though Florida weather often stays warm throughout the winter.
