The Universal Orlando Resort launched a new contactless payment option called Universal Pay for its theme park guests.
We’ve been waiting for the theme parks to go all-contactless with their payment options. Not only does it make ordering quick and easy but it also feels a lot more sanitary. Using guests’ credit cards for payment, this mobile option works at most Universal-owned retail and dining.
To access Universal Pay, all guests need is the Universal Orlando app and a valid credit card. Simply access the app, select the menu (three lines on the top left corn) and click Wallet. You’ll see a QR code icon with the words Universal Pay next to it. Select that, and next you’ll need to enter your credit card (or verify your current card that you already have on file). Once done, you’ll be able to select Universal Pay and bring up a temporary QR code to make future payments.
We love this method because it’s fast, easy, and seems super secure! We like that the QR code that Universal scans for your payment disappears quickly so that we don’t have to worry about it being replicated. From what we saw, the QR code only lasts 60 seconds before it changes again.

Another cool feature of Universal Pay is allowing spending limits. This could work great for guests with kids who may want to shop for themselves. You can also block certain users from charging using the app. What do you think of Universal Pay? Will you be using it?
