The Story Behind the Ship on Docking Bay 7

If you’ve been to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, you’ve probably noticed a ship above Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo. But did you know that it has a backstory?

Food is one of our favorite things about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Just like old marketplaces on Earth, you can roam ancient streets to sip and savor delicious treats. However, the land’s quick-service eatery, Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo, has the best selection.

Docking Bay 7’s menu is quite eclectic. There are alien-sounding Star Wars names everywhere like the Smoked Kaadu Ribs, Endorian Fried Tip Yip, and the Oi-Oi Puff. In the backstory of Galaxy’s Edge, most of the restaurant’s ingredients came to via an altered Sienar-Chall Utilipede-Transport. If that sounds very alien to you – well, because it is! So, we’ll simplify:

The story behind Docking Bay 7 starts with a chef named Strono “Cookie” Tuggs from Takodana. Cookie considers himself a pretty unattractive guy, but he’s got a heart of gold. We think that’s why his sweet nickname is “Cookie.” Anyway, Cookie was once the chef for Maz Katana (the pirate who has Luke’s lightsaber in The Force Awakens), but once her castle was destroyed, the chef had to move elsewhere.

Cookie modified a Sienar-Chall Utilipede-Transport, which is the name of the gray and red ship atop Docking Bay 7. The mods included a cooling section for meats and a live animal area for Tip Yip, chicken-like creatures from the Endor moon.

Easter Egg: The numbers 77, 80, and 83 are printed on the side of Cookie’s ship. They are an homage to the release years of the first Star Wars trilogy! You can spot these numbers when looking at his ship from afar.

Eventually, Cookie found himself on Black Spire Outpost – the location of Galaxy’s Edge – where he set up shop. Cookie enjoys Black Spire Outpost, even though it’s full of danger and the First Order roams the streets. However, just like back home on Takodana, Cookie gets to serve all sorts of people and creatures. Simply put, if you’re a picky eater and he makes you something yummy, his heart grows larger.

Cookie also likes to travel the galaxy and discover new ingredients for his menu. For this reason, we expect the menu to change overtime in Galaxy’s Edge.

So, next time you see the ship atop Docking Bay 7, tell everyone the tale of Cookie. Of course, you won’t spot him because he likes to stay hidden, as many chefs do. But he’s working hard behind the scenes, thinking of you, and hoping that you enjoy his food.

We gathered many of these details from the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge cookbook!* We LOVE this book for the delicious and fun recipes, and charming narration by Cookie himself. Even if you’re just a casual home chef, we highly recommend this cookbook.
