Star Wars: Rise of The Resistance Tips for Opening Day

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge - Disney's Hollywood Studios

This morning, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will debut one of the most anticipated attractions of all time. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is expecting massive crowds for its opening day. We have some valuable tips before your visit.

Rise of the Resistance will not utilize Disney FastPass+ or Extra Magic Hours. Instead, Disney has opted for a “virtual queue” for its guests.

Rise of The Resistance Tips

To access the queue, you’ll need the Walt Disney World app called My Disney Experience. Disney says, “Once you enter the park, open the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge section and go to “Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – Access by Boarding Group.” Click on “Find Out More.'” Again, you’ll need to be inside of the park to do this.

If the Boarding Group is grayed out, you will likely not get access to the attraction that day. If you do score a Boarding Group pass, you’ll be able to stroll over within the 2 hour window to experience the attraction.

For more details, log into the My Disney Experience app and read the content in the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge section. Keep in mind that getting a Boarding Pass does not guarantee you’ll ride the attraction.

Disney is implementing this system to better spread out crowds in the park. This way, guests can enjoy the other attractions and dining without waiting for hours upon hours in line. Now, we can only hope that all of this works!

When Frozen Ever After opened in 2016, Disney reportedly cut the line off at the 5-hour mark. Avatar: Flight of Passage has also seen extreme wait times over the past couple of years. Boarding Passes were also implemented for crowd control in Galaxy’s Edge. However, after the land’s opening date, these Boarding Passes have yet to be used—until now.
