The Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away show is closing this month a Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios will close Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away on February 22, 2020. The show is not scheduled to reopen in the future at any of the theme parks.
Disney originally planned to close the Star Wars-themed show after the opening of Galaxy’s Edge. However, the increasingly popular theme park needed more attractions for daytime guests. Thus, the other Star Wars-themed elements stayed for a while, including A Galaxy Far, Far Away.
In a surprising turn of events, Mickey Mouse is the one shutting down this show. With Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway set to open on March 4, 2020, the stage for A Galaxy Far, Far Away only blocks to marquee for the new attraction.
Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away debuted in 2016 with other Star Wars attractions within the theme park. Guests see heroes and villains from all timelines within the franchise. Darth Maul, Rey, C-3PO and BB-8 are just some of the popular characters that take to the stage.
Our favorite part is the March of the First Order with Captain Phasma leading Stormtroopers through Hollywood Boulevard. With the show’s departure, some of the most iconic characters Star Wars will be missing from Walt Disney World. Meaning, that we should soon expect to see characters like C-3PO and R2D2 popping up around the park – possibly even Galaxy’s Edge!
