Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure opened today with no virtual queue as Disney tests its standard standby line.

This morning, guests heading to Epcot were allowed to experience Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure without entering the virtual queue. Epcot opened the attraction with a standby wait, allowing guests to enter the queue as they pleased. Wait times averaged about 60 minutes.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure has used a virtual queue since last October when the ride first opened. Virtual queue spots have been very competitive as they dropped twice in one day—at 7am and 1pm. Guests must have Epcot as their starting park to enter the virtual queue. However, they can also purchase an Individual Lightning Lane for the ride (prices range from $9 – $15 per person).

There’s no word if Disney World will bring back the virtual queue for Remy’s. When Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance stopped using its virtual queue in the fall, the system did not return. However, it’s possible that Disney will use the queue again during busier days. Guests are instructed to check the Disney World app before 7am to see if the virtual queue will be used.

It’s also possible that we won’t see a virtual queue again until Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opens in Epcot. The new roller coaster attraction is slated for summer 2022. The virtual queue system is an easier way for Disney to launch a new attraction without guests standing hours in a physical line However, guests also complained about how quickly spots ran out.
