Parking Hopping Returns to Disney World in 2021!

Guests of the Walt Disney World Resort can soon enjoy park hopping once again starting on January 1, 2021!

When the Walt Disney World theme parks reopened in July 2020, one key feature was missing from the experience. Park hopping, or visiting multiple theme parks throughout the day, was prohibited. Even guests with annual passes that typically include those features couldn’t park hop. Disney suspended park hopping to better control the number of guests allowed inside the parks on any given day.

Starting January 1, 2021, this will all change. Park hopper tickets are available for purchase beginning in the new year but with some modifications. A Disney Park Pass will only be needed for the first visited park and then guests may be able to hop to another should capacity allow.

Here’s How Disney World Park Hopping Will Work in 2021:

  1. Guests must have a valid park hopper ticket or annual pass and make a Disney Park Pass reservation for their first chosen park.
  2. Park hopper hours now start at 2pm daily. However, this time and date may change depending on the park and day.
  3. Guests will be allowed to move to their newly chosen park after visiting the first park.
  4. Once park hopping is allowed, guests may travel to the second park of the day.

You may have noticed how simple this process is. Maybe, a little too simple? Disney wants it all to be straight forward, but some things remain unclear. We wonder if the second park could hit capacity before a guest arrives? What can a guest expect once that happens? Disney may not be saying so, but perhaps the capacity could be expanded during this time. It’s also very possible that Disney expect much fewer guests in early 2021 as they work out the bugs. However, the first three days of this may be some of the most trying (and crowded), depending on demand.

A new website link, www.disneyworld.com/parkhours, allows guest to see when park hopping is available depending on the park. This also helps better plan when they might visit the second park in a day. Rules will also be updated on this link should changes be made in the schedule.

It’s also important to note that ride reservations for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance are exclusive to guests who choose that park as their first stop.
