Disney’s Riviera Primo Piatto Quick-Service Review

We review 8 reasons that Primo Piatto is Walt Disney World’s best new quick-service restaurant!

Primo Piatto Review

When it comes to quick-service dining at Walt Disney World, the selections are very hit or miss. Often, the options are the same: burgers, fries, chicken strips, etc. So when a new dining spot opens with low prices and high quality, we take notice!

Primo Piatto opened with Disney’s Riviera Resort on December 16, 2019. So far, it takes the crown for quick-service options! Borrowing heavily from counter service restaurants like Panera Bread and Corner Bakery, this dining spot has several mouthwatering menu options. Read our Primo Piatto review with 8 reasons to visit:

Disney Skyliner to Riviera Resort
Disney Skyliner from Epcot to the Riviera Resort

1. Travel in Style – You can get over to Disney’s Riviera Resort by hopping on a Disney Skyliner gondola from Epcot! It’s a free way to travel and makes a great midday break. Just head out to the terminal outside of the International Gateway (Epcot’s back entrance) and the gondola takes you straight into the Riviera Resort. Primo Piatto is just a minute or two walk away from there.

2. Snack on This – There are dozens of options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Primo Piatto. We recommend heading there for lunch and trying the Grilled Chicken Sandwich. While the name doesn’t sound very exciting, the description does: “balsamic-marinated grilled chicken with sun-dried tomato relish, spinach-artichoke spread, and mozzarella on warm toasted focaccia—served with your choice of side.” We chose the salad—which is the first time we’ve had a FANTASTIC side salad at a Disney World quick-service place. Highly recommended! However, everything on the menu is delicious (we just recommend skipping the burger as you can get this pretty much anywhere at Disney World).

Primo Piatto Indoor Seating

3. Plenty of Seating – We love a restaurant with ample seating! Choose a table, a counter, or even sit outside on the grass if you feel like it. While the indoor decor is simple, there’s also a fresh European charm to it that made us feel at home.

Primo Piatto charging ports

4. Charging Tables – Many of the tables and counters have free charging ports. Bring your own cord and plug right in for a mid-day device refresh. We can’t thank Disney enough for these free charging stations!

Primo Piatto Coca-Cola Freestyle machines

5. Coca-Cola Freestyle Machines – We believe that the new decade is all about options! Having a choice of soft drink is essential to pleasing everyone and Coca-Cola Freestyle Machines do just that. They have everything from classic sodas and diet to rare mixtures like Coke with Lime or Vanilla (something we never see in the parks). We also expect many more of these machines to pop up around Disney in the next couple of years.

6. Sit and Wait – Even if Primo Piatto becomes busy, you don’t have to get up for your food. Sit wherever you’d like and this handy tracker helps cast members find you. Our food was delivered quickly, utensils and all.

7. Dessert Time – When you’re done eating, we highly recommend heading upstairs to Le Petite Cafe. There are several choices for dessert here, but we recommend the Chocolate Chunk Banana Bread. It was a rich, smooth bread with plenty of chocolaty, banana-y goodness!

8. Walk It Off – After stuffing yourself in Primo Piatto, walk around the gorgeous grounds of the Riviera Resort. There’s plenty to see from intricate paintings to classic photos of Walt Disney. If you’re feeling extra active, enjoy a game of bocci ball on the grass.

If you’re using the Disney Dining Plan, the meal counts as one quick-service option. Quick-service credits may also be used at Le Petit Cafe. Remember, you don’t need to be a guest at the Riviera Resort to dine there! Part of the great wonders of the Disney Skyliner is that it makes hotel hopping a breeze. There’s no better mid-day break than a nice meal, right? We hope you love Primo Piatto as much as we do!
