Disney’s Polynesian Resort had its reopening date pushed back until Summer 2021. Ongoing refurbishment will take place at the hotel.
One of Walt Disney World’s most iconic hotel won’t reopen until mid-2021! Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort was scheduled to reopen on October 4, 2020. However, a number of factors have now pushed this beautiful resort back for nearly another year!
Now scheduled to reopen in Summer 2021, Disney’s Polynesian will also have a Moana re-theming in its rooms. According to the Orlando Sentinel, a new “Pacific Ocean-inspired color palette” and themes from Disney’s animated film, Moana, will refresh the rooms.
While we’re incredibly excited to see the Poly’s transformation, we’ll certainly miss this hotel. However, Disney Vacation Club members can still book stays in the villas and bungalows. Additionally, the monorail station for the hotel will stop running temporarily in October. Busses and boats are still scheduled for visiting guests.

Another reason for the extended closure is the COVID-19 pandemic. With low tourism this year, several Disney hotels haven’t reopening including Port Orleans and the All-Star Resorts. Like the Polynesian, none of those Resorts have an official reopening date.
Disney’s Polynesian Village is home to a gorgeous lobby, spacious rooms, and delicious dining for the entire family. It’s also one of the most expensive properties at Walt Disney World. While dates can always change, the scheduled refurbishment likely has this hotel not opening for quite some time.
