A review of the deluxe studio room at Disney’s Old Key West Resort (a Disney Vacation Club property) at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Disney’s deluxe resort properties are easily the best hotel experience at Walt Disney World. From excellent staff to comfortable rooms, there’s plenty to enjoy at these resorts. Disney Vacation Club properties step it up even further with added amenities like kitchen features in every room.
So, when future guests are browsing which deluxe rooms stay in Walt Disney World, Old Key West often comes up on the map. With some of the lowest prices in the deluxe category, there’s still very little known about this resort and its rooms. To help with that, we’re diving into Old Key West’s most affordable room, the spacious Deluxe Studio.
The Deluxe Studios at Old Key West are some of the largest studio rooms in all of Walt Disney World. At around 380 sq ft, the room feels much spacious than most in its category. This size is also about another 20 square feet more than studios at Animal Kingdom and Saratoga Springs. Furthermore, the studios in Old Key West have two queen-sized beds, none of which are pull outs. These beds are extra comfortable for guests needing more sleeper space.
The kitchenettes in the deluxe studios are best for quick bites. There’s a mini fridge to store items like water bottles and snacks. A microwave, a coffee maker, a small sink, and some cups and cutlery are also available. There’s also a small seating area with two chair and a table (more on the balcony). It’s not much, but it’s certainly useful! If you need a larger kitchen area, we recommend booking a 1-bedroom or larger.
There’s one bathroom in an Old Key West deluxe studio, and it feels very spacious as well. While the shower isn’t updated like those at the Polynesian or Copper Creek, you’ll easily find that there’s room in the bathroom for two adults in needed. From our experience, having a larger bathroom is a lifesaver when you’re visiting Walt Disney World, especially while getting ready in the morning.

On the way to the bathroom is the kitchen area. As you can see in the photos above, the kitchenette is on the left and the closet is on the right. When the bathroom door is closed, there’s a full-length mirror to get dressed. Each room comes with a wall-mountain TV above the dresser. There’s also enough space under the beds to place most suitcases.
Finally, the balcony has serene views of water, gardens, or walkways. Typically we find that most rooms here have nice, tranquil views. The only quieter resort is Saratoga Springs which, for many, is a little too quiet. Like Saratoga, guests staying in Old Key West can also take a boat to Disney Springs. Bus service is the other way to get around to the parks, which is a little bit of a downside. However, Old Key West has many busses running to it every day so you’re not stuck waiting for too long.
Overall, the deluxe studios at Old Key West are some of our favorite in Walt Disney World. The layout is great and easy to access what you need. While we wish there was faster transport to the parks, guests with their own car won’t miss a thing about staying closer to the parks. With Old Key West’s low price point, you might be able to stay here for under $300 a night while using a promotion, which is amazing for a Walt Disney World Resort deluxe hotel!
