Now that the Disneyland Resort has reopened guests may pay with cash at the theme parks—but there is one big condition to know before going.
If you’re visiting the Disneyland Resort soon, you may have heard the theme park’s push for mobile ordering. This is mostly done for a healthier, contactless method to grab what you need. However, many guests are wondering if Disneyland has gone totally cash-less.
The good news is, Disneyland does accept cash payment. Even though they highly recommend that guests use the Disneyland app to order food, not all locations take this type of payment. So if you’re at a snack station or inside of a store, you would need to pay in person anyway. Even at the restaurants and dining spots that typically take mobile orders, you can pay with cash.
However, there is one big string attached: some dining spots only take mobile order. It’s hard to know which of these spots will do this because it changes frequently. For example, we dined at The Tropical Hideaway one day with the only option to mobile order. A couple of days later, there was a standby line to dine here. It’s best to check the Disneyland app or stop by the dining spot of your choice to see what the preferred method is.
In the instance that an app is only taking mobile orders, Cast Members may ask that you purchase a gift card with your cash inside one of the stores. We recommend doing this anyway because you can use the Disney gift card in the app to order food. It’s very fast and easy! Creating a Disneyland account is free and you do not need a credit card for it.
