The Disneyland Resort is planning a spring reopening after California updates its guidelines for theme parks.

Huge news out of California as updated regulations allow for theme parks including Disneyland and Universal Studios to reopen this spring. According to the new guidelines, Disneyland could open with rides as soon as April 1, 2021.

These new rules require theme parks to keep a 15% or fewer guests to reopen. Additionally, indoor queuing must be limited and restaurants cannot seat indoors. All of this can start April 1st as long as the county is in a red tier status. Additionally, only California residents can visit the parks until further notice.

Disneyland responded to the news with an excited post on social media. Disney Parks expressed that they are “encouraged” to reopen this spring! Furthermore, Cast Members can finally return to their positions and work again.

If you’re not familiar with the California tiers, there are four: purple, red, orange, and yellow. Previously, California required heme parks to reopen in yellow, meaning very minimal spread within the county. However, declining numbers allow businesses to have more room.

With all of that said, it will still take time for the theme parks to set themselves up to house guests. If we had to guess, we would suspect a May reopening. Currently, Orange County is in the purple tier but swiftly moving toward red. In the meantime, Disneyland has the A Touch of Disney event planned at California Adventure in March and April.
