The famous astromech droid has held residence in Galaxy’s Edge since day one at Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Guests can find him hanging out near the cash registers in the Droid Depot. In fact, you can even buy a full-sized, real life R2 unit for a mere $25,000!
If you’re just looking for a picture instead of a car-sized purchase, we recommend heading to the Droid Depot. If you’re at Disneyland and he’s not there, then look around Black Spire Outpost. He often roams the streets at Disneyland’s version, beeping and posing for pictures with guests. However, we’ve only spotted him during the day when it’s not raining.
When Disney first announced Galaxy’s Edge, they promised roaming droids throughout Black Spire Outpost. However, on launch, all of the droids were confined to the Droid Depot store – including R2. Last month, Disney rolled out new soda droids that beep and spin as guests away to purchase drinks. While these and R2 are great additions, we’re still holding out for more. Perhaps in the not-too-distant future we’ll get even more characters like these.
