When will Avengers Campus, the upcoming Marvel-themed land, finally open in Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort?
When the Disneyland Resort theme parks closed earlier this year, it was uncertain when they might reopen. However, more than six months after the closure, it appears that long delays are due for upcoming rides. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway has already been delayed another year. But what about Avengers Campus, the nearly complete land in Disney California Adventure?
Originally set to open on July 18, 2020, Avengers Campus was eventually postponed. Now, we don’t expect the land to open this year at all. While Imagineers are hard at work completing the Marvel-themed land, it’s still not ready. However, finishing touches are under way, including the installation of the Avengers’ Quinjet plane.
With that said, we expect that Avengers Campus will open in the spring, possibly March 2021. Disney likes to launch its attractions along with festivals which is when the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival typically takes place. However, it’s entirely possible that Disney will open the land sooner, if ready. We may see a January opening date, similar to that of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in 2020.
Of course, these are just guesses based on Disneyland’s history. For now, Disney may not even know when the land will be ready—or when the public will be. When Disneyland reopens, it will have limited capacity due to social distancing. Thus, the land could quickly fill as it will be the most popular spot in California Adventure. Additionally, Disney may change up its line up of attraction openings and seasonal offerings depending on the crowds.

Avengers Campus will feature a new ride, WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure. The existing Guardians of the Galaxy—Mission: BREAKOUT! attraction is included, too. The land has new dining spot like PYM Test Kitchen where food “grows” and “shrinks.”
In the land, guests can meet Marvel super heroes like Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, and Doctor Strange. New characters may also come and go. We expect to see dozens of Avengers and super villains there over time.
