When can you expect Disneyland and Disney California Adventure unused tickets to expire after they’ve been purchased?
When the Disneyland Resort closed in March 2020, countless guests had unused tickets already purchased for their upcoming visit. As the parks remain closed, many buyers wonder when their tickets expire. We explain Disneyland’s updated rules and what they mean for those tickets.
Many previously purchased Disneyland theme park tickets (including Disney California Adventure) have had their expiration dates extended. If your ticket currently expires at the end of 2020 or on March 31, 2021, it now expires December 16, 2021. For multi-day tickets that have remaining dates (and aren’t part of a promotion) that expired on January 1 or April 13, 2021, now expire on December 16, 2021. Multi-day tickets also expire 13 days after the first use date once you’ve returned.
If you purchased a promotional Southern Californian Resident Ticket your new expiration date is December 16, 2021. Guests may use these tickets on non-consecutive days, however blockout dates apply (March 26-April 22, July 4, and November 20-27, 2021 are all blocked out for these tickets).
Unused promotional Child Tickets expires 13 days after the first use or December 16th, 2021, whichever date first occurs. Blockout days include March 26-April 22, July 4, and November 20-27, 2021.

For now, Disneyland tickets and annual passports aren’t available for sale. Guests with expired passports will also see extensions added to their end of their passes. However, Disneyland explained to us that those dates won’t be updated until right before the park reservations begin.
Also keep in mind that some of this information could be updated or voided by Disney. We recommend checking Disneyland.com for up-to-date information. To get updates on Disneyland’s reopening, sign up for our free e-mail newsletter! You can also follow us on Instagram and Twitter.
