The Walt Disney World Resort has updated its mask policies about what qualifies as a proper face covering for its guests.
All guests ages 2 and older must wear a face covering when visiting Walt Disney World. However, the term “face covering” can be quite open-ended. In fact, many grocery stores allow for simple bandanas as a proper face covering. So what are Disney’s policies?
Disney is a bit stricter when it comes to face coverings. All masks must fully cover the guest’s nose and mouth. The mask also has to be hands-free and secured with ties or ear loops. Furthermore, the mask must fit snuggly to the guest’s face. Finally, all face coverings must be made of breathable material (it can be a reusable or disposable mask).

While homemade masks with those specifications are allowed, coverings like “neck gaiters” are not. Additionally, masks from costumes are not considered appropriate face coverings. In other words, if it doesn’t have ties and/or fit snuggly, it doesn’t count.
We expect that Disney will update face covering requirements in the future. So, it’s always best to check WaltDisneyWorld.com for updated rules before your visit.
