The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover refurbishment has been extended at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World.
We reported back in July that the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover (or simply, PeopleMover) would be closed for the coming months. Though reports indicated the ride would be back on track in the fall, Disney pushed the date back into winter.
Guests can now expect to see the PeopleMover reopen shortly after Christmas. However, there is no telling if the PeopleMover’s refurbishment date could be extended again. Walt Disney World’s website doesn’t list an official reopening date for the attraction.
Disney attractions go under occasional refurbishment to replace parts, fine tune vehicles, repaint features, and sometimes add set pieces. We don’t expect to see major updates to the PeopleMover when it reopens. According to sources, parts of the track need replacing.

The 10-minute PeopleMover is one of the longest rides in Walt Disney World. It’s also one of the most popular! About half of the guests who visit the Magic Kingdom ride the attraction. Though the PeopleMover is a bit fast-paced, its available for all ages. The PeopleMover is also one of the best ways to see construction updates for the upcoming TRON roller coaster. For that reason alone, it’s a bummer that the PeopleMover is down for the count.
