by Walt Disney World has finally added a must-have FastPass+ option for the Millennium Falcon: Smuglers Run ride in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge (Disney’s Hollywood Studios).
Beginning February 19, 2020, guests visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios will have the option to use the FastPass+ service for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. The FastPass+ line has always been installed for the ride, but was unavailable before due to popular demand. In theory, the absence of the FP+ option has allowed all guests to evenly experience the attraction throughout the day.
However, now that the mega-popular Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance has opened, Smugglers Run is due for its FastPass+ option. The change also mixes up Disney’s Hollywood Studios FastPass+ tiers, making it so that guests can only choose between Smugglers Run or Slinky Dog Dash.
Should You Book Millennium Falcon or Slinky Dog Dash FastPass+?
If you have a trip planned after February 19 and within the next 30 days (60 days if you’re staying at a Disney World hotel), you can start booking your FastPass+ for the Falcon now! However, we don’t necessarily believe that the ride will be the best option for a FastPass tier.
So far, Slinky Dog Dash has fewer availability and generally longer lines than the Falcon. Disney has said that the Falcon holds about 1,800 guests per day which is far more than most roller coaster. If you can’t get a FastPass+ for Slinky Dog Dash, then choose one for the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
FastPass+ is a free option available to all Walt Disney World guests who purchase their tickets in advance. Those staying at a Disney Resort hotel can book up to 60 days ahead while those who are not can book 30 days in advance. Annual Passholders also have the option of 30 days in advance.
We expect more attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to receive a FastPass+ option within the next year. Hopefully, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will begin operating smoothly and add the feature. Once this happens, we expect that FastPass+ tiers to change again.
