A Mario Kart ride will open with the Universal Orlando third theme park, Epic Universe!
Get ready to enter the green warp pipe! When Epic Universe opens in 2023, one of its main attractions will be Mario Kart. On this ride, guests race on tracks to fight Bowser, Mario’s main villain. It’s all part of Super Nintendo World, a highly immersive and interactive new land featuring popular Nintendo characters.
It’s hard to believe that Universal can pull off such a task, but the attraction is already set to open this year at Universal Studios Japan. A video shows riders in a cart racing to stop Bowser’s evil deeds.

However, Mario Kart isn’t the only ride for Super Nintendo World. Yoshi, Mario’s dinosaur pal, also has his own attraction. The family-friendly ride sees guests saddling the dino as they explore an area! Rumors are that the attraction will change depending on the Yoshi that you ride.
Nintendo wanted interactive elements as well as new rides. So, guests can use an interactive bands and smartphones to break blocks, collect coins, and more! These bands are sort of a blend between the Harry Potter wands and the TapuTapu bracelets from Universal’s Volcano Bay water park. However, using a phone adds other elements that we haven’t seen before.
We’re incredibly excited to see how Super Nintendo World unfolds at Universal’s Epic Universe. The upcoming theme park is already on its way as construction continues toward a 2023 opening date. Other lands expected are How to Train Your Dragon, Universal’s Monsters, a third Wizarding World of Harry Potter area, and a central hub with shopping, dining, and other entertainment.
