Walt Disney World’s Star Wars Galactic Cruiser hotel is set to open soon, and we have the possible price, location, reservations, and opening date.
The Star Wars Galactic Cruiser is an immersive, two-day, two-night experience only at the Walt Disney World Resort. Guests “board” a star cruiser with simulations that feel as though they’re flying through space! It’s an experience where you can totally geek out and wear authentic Star Wars clothing all day and night. You can also role play, interact, and even live out your own Star Wars story!
So, what does that mean? Well, there will be plenty to do on board. By day you might train with a lightsaber and work in the engine room. By night, you can hang out in the lounge or grab a bite to eat. Disney hasn’t said much yet about the dining experiences on board, but we’re excited to see what Star Wars details will come to life!
Note: The Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser isn’t your standard hotel. Meaning, you won’t just stay there at night and then head to the parks during the day. It also probably doesn’t have a pool or other Disney World hotel amenities. Think of it more like a cruiseship adventure where you can role play!
The Star Cruiser is also supposed to be “glamorous” so we’re expecting plenty of beautiful, detailed experiences. For example, in the cabins, instead of windows looking out into the landscape, you’ll see a digital view of space. Of course, all of this is supposed to feel real, so guests can play along with the details.
Characters like Chewbacca and R2-D2 also make appearances. Other droids and aliens are supposed to inhabit the ship as well. We also heard about a possible “dangerous” moment when the First Order invades the starcruiser. Guests will have to make a choice to stand with the Resistance or join the dark side.
In a way, the Galactic Starcruiser fills in many of the missing pieces from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Disney promised roaming droids and costumed aliens in the land, but we’ve yet to see them. Hopefully, the ship and the land will work together for an unforgettable experience.
Where Is the Star Wars Galactic Cruiser?
The ship is being constructed just in back of Disney’s Hollywood Studios park. This way, guests can take transports to Black Spire Outpost as sort of an off-board “excursion.” It’s still unclear if guests can access more than just Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge during that time and if they can visit other parts of the Walt Disney World Resort.
How Much Will the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Cost?
At this point, we can only speculate the cost of the Star Wars: Galactic Cruiser. However, rumor of a $3,000 price tag for the two-day, two-night experience seem to make sense. But, wait! Before the price scares you away, there’s something you need to understand: the cost could be for up to five guests. Meaning, that $3,000 might be per cabin, which holds five guests, so $600 a person.
For us, this price seems to make sense. The Galactic Cruiser isn’t just a hotel, it’s more like a cruise ship will likely include a room, food, and activities. The price could also be the starting point and add-ons would be available, too. For example, the excursions to Batuu would cost $100 or so and a signature restaurant could be another $60 per person.
Furthermore, if we compare the $3,000 price tag to a two-day Disney Cruise, the cost also makes sense. A two-day cruise in a veranda stateroom to Mexico from San Diego, CA costs just over $4,100 for a family of four. However, that also includes port fees and foreign taxes. Thus, a $3,000 price tag makes sense for the cheapest room on the Galactic Starcruiser.
Keep in mind that there are some missing pieces. For example, we don’t know how “nice” the cabins are. If they feel minimal and cramped, then a $600 price tag also makes sense. Yet, the concept art appears to show a pretty swanky, authentic hotel! We highly doubt that Disney will cheap out on this one, but we also expect that demand will drive the price.
Again, these are just speculations. We won’t know official pricing until Disney releases it. Cabins may also cost more on weekends, holidays, and during other peak times.
