The Downtown Disney Shopping District makes changes to dining and shopping to accommodate new California restrictions.
Last week, the State of California announced that due to hospital crowding, new restrictions would be mandated for most counties. Due to this, the Disneyland Resort had to modify its experiences. Indoor shopping is now limited to 20% capacity and all dining must be to-go.
Beginning today, Dec. 7, guests visiting Downtown Disney and Buena Vista Street will remain open but with a modified experience. Though many of the shopping and dining locations are available, some are not. The change affects dining as well, including quick-service like Award Wieners.
Disneyland’s website states, “While the Downtown Disney District begun a phased reopening, beginning Dec. 7, restaurants and dining locations that do not offer take-out will close. Select retail locations will remain open.”

We expect that most Downtown Disney and Buena Vista Street stores will stay open though the holiday season. However, Carthay Circle Lounge’s new alfresco dining is temporarily closed. Splitsville, which also just reopened this past month, shut its doors again due to the restrictions. Additionally, Asian Street Eats, Black Tap, Catal, La Brea Bakery, Naples Ristorante, Starbucks, Tortilla Joes, Uva Bar, and a few other dining spots are not open. We expect these closers to last into January.
