The Disneyland Resort Express Shuttle Will Stop Operation in 2020

The Disneyland Resort Express Shuttle will no longer run beginning January 2020.

Guests arriving from the LAX or John Wayne Airport will soon have one less transportation option. The Disneyland Express Shuttle concludes its operations on January 7, 2020.

The shuttle, which costs about $48.00 roundtrip from LAX for adults and $14.00 RT for children 3-11, drops guests off to Disneyland Resort hotels. It also services local “good neighbor” hotels such as the Candy Cane Inn and Courtyard Anaheim.

There’s very little buzz about this charter shuttle that arrives from the airport. In our Disneyland 2020 Guidebook, we recommend traveling by rideshare as is saves money. With Lyft, a family of four can pay as little as $50 each way. You also don’t have to worry about other stops along the way.

Perhaps ride share services are the reason that the Disneyland Express is meeting its end. Furthermore, guests don’t stay at the Disneyland Resort like they do at Walt Disney World. With dozens of hotel options at the Walt Disney World Resort, versus three Resort Hotels at Disneyland, demand can’t nearly be as high.

We anticipate more crowds flocking into Disneyland in 2020 at Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opens on January 17, 2020. So, perhaps we’ll see another airport transportation option offered in the near future by Disney such as the Minnie Vans found at Walt Disney World. Then again, Disneyland is a locals park, mostly catering to the nearby families who have visited over the decades. Disneyland is a Southern California staple over a vacation destination, and shuttle services may not be as in demand moving forward.
