The Disneyland Resort announced that it will not be reopening the Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian due to new statewide restrictions.
In November, Disney Vacation Club announced the reopening of the villas Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel at the Disneyland Resort. However, due to new state restrictions, the hotel’s reopening has been delayed. There is no word yet on when it might reopen.
California’s strict new guidelines come as the nation faces its highest number of cases. As hospitals near capacity, California Governor Gavin Newsom pushes for more restrictions. Before this weekend, hotels, shopping, and dining could operate until specific guidelines, depending on the county. Now only essentials are being encouraged, which means restrictions on other accommodations.

The Disneyland Resort hotels closed in March and have yet to reopen. Since only the Disney Vacation Club portion of the Grand Californian would open its doors, only members had access to these rooms. Additionally, many amenities would remain unavailable. However, it was a way for members to have an escape during the holiday season which shopping and dining in Downtown Disney.
