Disney World Is Discontinuing the Magical Express

The Walt Disney World Magic Express is stopping its complimentary service from Orlando International to its Resort hotels.

A huge Disney hotel on-site advantage is disappearing in 2022. Disney’s Magical Express will stop all operations on Jan 1st, and leaving guests without a free transport to the Walt Disney World Resort hotels.

According to a recent post, Disney stated “vacationers have more options to choose from than ever for transportation, including ride-share services that save time and offer more flexibility to go where they want, when they want.” Meaning, that they believe guests no longer want to ride together on a bus to enter the hotels.

So, what options will guests have in the future? For the time being, Disney has not announced additional plans. However, we suspect to see a paid replacement for the Magical Express. This could come with paid services such as the return of Minnie Vans or a push toward Uber and Lyft. Then again, we may something entirely new for guests to experience!

Nonetheless, this is an interesting move from Disney. The theme park resort has already discontinued free Magic Bands at the start of 2021. While the experience is still available, guests now have to pay for their bands, or use their mobile device for free. Overall, this does eliminate on-sight advantages for staying at a Disney-owned hotel property. Perhaps Disney doesn’t see this perk as a necessity for guests to book vacations next year.
