Guests visiting stores like the World of Disney and Mouse Gear now use a mobile checkout featured within the Disney World and Disneyland apps!
If you’re visiting Downtown Disney or EPCOT this holiday season, you may be able to take advantage of a new shopping feature. “Shop in Store” is a mobile checkout option provided by the Disneyland and Walt Disney World apps. It enables guests to scan their own items and make purchases without waiting in line at a physical checkout.

We’ve used this feature before at the Apple Store and it’s been a strangely wonderful experience. In a way, it sort of feels like you’re doing something you shouldn’t be! However, Cast Members are able to track merchandise and keep an eye on customers to ensure that you’re all set before walking out the door. You simply show them a QR code that displays your purchases.

Overall, Disney wants to create user friendly and contactless experiences to drive guest satisfaction. Sometimes long waits at the register deter guests from purchasing. Mobile checkout remedies this issue by literally placing the option in their hands. As Disney moves toward more app-based experiences, we expect that more stores will get this feature soon.
