A review of the Candy Cane Inn, the best hotel option near the Disneyland Resort!
For over 50 years, the Candy Cane Inn has hosted guests visiting Disneyland. It’s comfy, charming, and even a little magical. We love staying here because it comes with a variety of amenities – including walking distance to the theme parks – at an affordable price.
In fact, the Candy Cane Inn is one of the closest off-site Disneyland hotels. A walk from your room to the security gates takes about 5-10 minutes. For those needing a midday break, the Inn’s location is its best feature.
Rooms here start around $180.00/night, plus tax. However, if you’re a Disneyland Annual Passholder, you can save an additional $10 per night (use code “DIS”). Compared to the Disneyland Resort hotels, this is a killer price. A night Disney’s Paradise Pier hotel (it’s least expensive) typically costs more than double that. Furthermore, the Candy Cane Inn about the same walking distance as Paradise Pier to the theme parks.
The Candy Cane Inn rooms have a bed and breakfast type feel. The clean white linens and contemporary browns give off a vintage, mid-century vibe. The mattresses have the right amount of spring to them and the tucked away rooms feel nice and private.
Perhaps our only dislike are the bathrooms. While the sink area and the toilet/showers are separate and fairly roomy, the old pink and beige tile looked sparse. The grout seemed like it needed replacing, too. However, everything was spotless and comfortable.
The rooms come in a variety of sizes. The standard room is a surprisingly spacious fit, even for four adults. However, if you’d like to spread out a bit, we recommend paying a little extra for the larger premium rooms. You’ll have home-like amenities in these rooms including a refrigerator and microwave. The in-room tables are large enough for two people.
Candy Cane Inn Breakfast Candy Cane Inn Breakfast
Perks of staying at the Candy Cane Inn include free parking, a pool, and complimentary breakfast. Any resort with free parking around Disneyland is a fantastic deal. However, Candy Cane Inn’s breakfast is stellar. There are pastries, cereal, sandwiches, fruit, coffee, tea, milk, and more. We’ve had some questionable free hotel breakfasts before, so this one blew us away. It was as though we ordered from a mom and pop bakery! We ate by the pool in the morning before heading to the parks.
Next door is a 7-11 for snacks, light toiletries, and drinks. The Candy Cane Inn also has a small store with many of these same items.
The pool area is located in the center of the Inn’s courtyard. It’s not much of a pool, but nice and fun for warmed days. Kids also enjoy swimming and playing here. One of the two hot tubs is located under a gazebo which gives off another charming characteristic.
From the courtyard area, you’ll have rooms of Disney California Adventure. We could see the back of Cars Land and the Guardians of the Galaxy tower very close by. Some hotels charge a premium for these types of views, but the Candy Cane Inn doesn’t, which is another reason to love this hotel.
Since the Candy Cane Inn is so close to the parks, we didn’t expect for it to have a shuttle. However, it certainly does! The shuttle runs throughout the day and night, dropping guests off at the park’s main gates. For larger groups, parents with young kids, or those with trouble walking, the shuttle is a great option.
If you’re looking to stay at an affordable hotel with clean, comfortable rooms, and great amenities, the Candy Cane Inn is for you! It’s a relaxing stay with easy access to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Just be sure to reserve your room early because this place books up, especially when conventions are in town.
