A Spider-Man stuntronic will have the superhero swinging above Disney California Adventure’s upcoming Avengers Campus!
It’s almost too incredible to believe! The web-slinging Spider-Man will soon swing above buildings at the upcoming Avengers Campus. It’s something never-before pulled off at a Disney theme park, and it looks AMAZING! In the photo above, we suspect that the crane has something to do with Spidey’s leaping ability.
Check out this video of Spidey leaping through the air:
Disney previous released footage of the stuntronics and many assumed that Marvel heroes would be represented with the tech. While Disney often uses projections and other digital effects to create characters, nothing replaces a physical prop. For this reason, we’re incredibly excited to see Avengers Campus come to life in Summer 2020!
The upcoming Avengers Campus land also features a new, yet-to-be-named Spider-Man ride. In the new attraction, guests help Spidey wrangle up mechanical spiders on the loose. Many speculate that augmented reality will allow guests to shoot web from their wrists. However, this hasn’t been confirmed by Disney.
Avengers Campus takes over the spot previously belonging to A Bugs Land. Guardians of the Galaxy–Mission: Breakout!, the new Spider-Man ride, and a Dr. Strange show will makeup the initial attractions for the land. A PYM Test Kitchen quick service will also serve guests “growing” and “shrinking” food.
In 2022 or 2023, Avengers Campus will also have its third ride, a totally new attraction for Disney theme parks. In the unnamed ride, guests will become superheroes to save the Earth. However, we expect all other attractions for Avengers Campus to open by summer of this year.
