We have the freshest Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance tips for you—spoiler free! As Disney continues to tweak how guests experience the new ride, we keep this blog up-to-date.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance only opened two weeks ago at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and big changes continue to be implemented. Guests start lining up hours before scheduled opening times. We’ve seen crowds before 5AM with park hours beginning as early as 6AM.
It’s no wonder that fans are so eager to experience this attraction. We rank it as one of the best theme park attractions of all time (we won’t post spoilers here, but if you want to read our picture-filled, spoiler-ridden review, click here).
New Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Tips
Get There Early – We recommend arriving to Disney’s Hollywood Studios no later than 90 minutes before park opening. This way, you can get through bag check and into the park with plenty of time.
Have Your Tickets Ready – Make sure that everyone in your group has your theme park tickets scanned into the Walt Disney World app (My Disney Experience) on least one phone. This way you can all join a Boarding Group together. It’s done similar to a FastPass+ selection process.
Prepare to Wait – Disney doesn’t open the Boarding Groups until the minute that park opens. However, you will be allowed inside of the park before that. Before, Disney also opened rides like Slinky Dog Dash and The Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run for early arriving guests. However, this is no longer the case. Some shops will be open and the Trolley Car Cafe will serve Starbucks coffee and baked goods.
Understanding Boarding Groups
Like we said, the Boarding Groups are just like FastPass+. Instead of pre-booking these, you’ll need to do it day-of inside of the park. To obtain a Boarding Pass for each person in your group, do the following:
- Everyone in your party will need to be inside of the park before it opens.
- Be quick! The Boarding Groups go fast, and the earlier you are, the less waiting around you’ll do.
- Boarding Group slots often run out within an hour of park opening.
- The later Boarding Groups don’t always get a turn. This is just a sad fact. If you’re in Boarding Group 120, and the ride breaks down at the end of the night, it’s tough luck. However, recently we’ve seen groups much higher than that.
- Most of the time, Boarding Groups 1-20 are called within the first hour. We believe that these are the best Boarding Groups.
- Once your group is called, a pop up should appear on your phone. It’s still a good idea to keep checking your device to see when your group is called.
- You can leave the park and return at any time.
- Once you are called, head to the ride in Galaxy’s Edge. You’ll be able to access it from Grand Avenue near Muppet*Vision 3D. Cast Members will also hold up signs showing you which direction to go. The land will likely not be accessible from Toy Story Land.
- Look for the turrets and a line of cast members with tablets. They will scan your group in and it’ll be your turn to ride!
