Disneyland’s holiday food selection has been wide and abundant in 2019. As we’ve spent the past few weeks sampling around Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, there are been many awesome flavors. To help you pick, we’ve narrowed our list down to our favorite holiday food of the year—get most of these through January 6, 2020!
Disneyland Holiday Food 2019
Disneyland does the holidays right by bringing new twists on classic favorites. Once again, they’ve knocked the specialty churros out of the park! We loved trying everything, but here were the standouts:
Holiday Brownie
Location: Jolly Holiday (Main Street, U.S.A.)
Description: The Holiday Brownie might look simple, but it’s packed with flavor! A rich chocolate brownie cupcake topped with white chocolate mousse and chocolate candy presents. It’s served all day through January 6, 2010… we may or may not have eaten this one for breakfast…
Thanks-Mas Sandwich
Location: Jolly Holiday (Main Street, U.S.A.)
Description: A warm grilled sandwich with turkey, gravy, stuffing (yes, we just said “stuffing!), and cranberry sauce. Honestly, you should be sold by the word “stuffing” because this crunchy, heavenly sandwich is like eating an entire Thanksgiving meal with each bite. It’s also served with those thick Disney kettle chips—yum!
Toffee-Flavored Churro
Location: Churro Cart (Tomorrowland)
Description: Toffee and sugar dusted churro with your choice to add on chocolate-almond or chocolate dipping sauce (chocolate-almond pictured)
Why It’s Awesome: We were not mentally prepared for how perfectly delicious this churro is! The sweet toffee flavor just works so well with the warm, doughy churro. We loved the chocolate-almond dipping sauce, but it’s a bit overpowering. You don’t need it (we also may or may not have eaten the dipping sauce with a spoon shortly after this photo was taken…)
Sugar Plum Candy Churro
Location: Churro Cart (New Orleans Square)
Description: Sweet and tart sugar-coated churro
Why It’s Awesome: The Sugar Plum Candy Churro was one of our favorites from 2018. We’re so happy that they brought it back because the blend of sweet and tart flavors are an ideal combination that you never get with any other churro flavor throughout the year. It really does taste like the sugar plum candies!
Disney California Adventure Holiday Food
DCA takes holiday dining to a new level. Like the Disneyland Holiday food for 2019, you can experience fun twists on classic favorites. However, the Holiday Kiosk Marketplace is the ideal stop for foodies. Make you way over to these booths located in Pacific Wharf to try some of these mouthwatering holiday flavors:
Churro Shake
Location: Schmoozies! (Hollywood Land)
Description: Blended brown sugar-cinnamon ice cream topped with whip cream, cinnamon churro cereal, and a churro toffee
Why It’s Awesome: You guys… THIS IS AMAZING! Okay, we know that we freak out from time to time, but this is TRULY the thing to get. The Churro Shake is so unassuming, but the smooth blend of ice cream and cinnamon is so perfect. Plus, those little churros on top are both crispy AND doughy (not hard, at all). Eating this is like living inside a dream made of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. If that sounds amazing to you, head over to Schmoozies! the next chance you get!
Cheesy “Corn” Dog
Location: Award Wieners (Hollywood Land)
Description: A flavorful jalapeño-cheddar sausage topped with tangy corn-cheese sauce, chile-lime-dusted corn fritters, pickled fresno chiles, and cilantro
Why It’s Awesome: Award Wieners does hot dogs right by taking a gourmet approach. This dog is no different. The warm, fried cheesy curds are really what sell this one! Also, the film strip fries at Award Wieners are our FAVE. You can get a version of this entree with the fries instead of the hot dog.
Gingerbread Funnel Cake Fries
Location: Award Wieners (Hollywood Land)
Description: A flavorful jalapeño-cheddar sausage topped with tangy corn-cheese sauce, chile-lime-dusted corn fritters, pickled fresno chiles, and cilantro
Why It’s Awesome: Order the Gingerbread Funnel Cake Fries along with you Cheesy “Corn” Dog for a delicious dessert. The gingerbread flavor goes incredibly well with the soft funnel cake fries!
Loaded Latkes
Location: Smokejumpers Grill (Grizzly Peak)
Description: Golden fried potatoes topped with brisket, horseradish cream, and scallions
Why It’s Awesome: The smoked brisket goes incredibly well with the latkes! While these aren’t your homemade variety, they still stand out! The horseradish gives it a necessary kick and makes us want to order it again.
Festival Foods Marketplace (inside Disney California Adventure)
Caramelized Apple Cake
Location: Making Spirits Bright Kiosk (Festival Foods Marketplace)
Description: A warm round of apple cake drizzled with creme anglaise and salted caramel sauce
Why It’s Awesome: The Caramelized Apple Cake is our absolute favorite dessert of the Festival Foods Marketplace! It’s a melt-in-your-mouth tread that will please anyone who loves caramel!
Turkey & Stuffing Tamale
Location: Making Spirits Bright Kiosk (Festival Foods Marketplace)
Description: A traditional warm corn tamale with turkey and stuffing. It’s also served with cranberry sauce to give it that extra holiday flavor.
Why It’s Awesome: Another returning favorite! This is an excellent take on tamales, which are one of our favorite holiday snacks.
We’re hungry again after reviewing all of these! We might need to stop by the parks again just to get our fix of Disneyland Holiday Food before 2019 is over! We hope they bring back some of these next year. Although, we always love trying new things, too!
