The Mickey Shorts Theater now has an opening date! Beginning in March 2020, zany Mickey Mouse cartoons will run throughout the day. The new theater will be a great way to skip the rain or avoid the heat. Plus, if you’re unfamiliar with the new Mickey Mouse animation style, this is a great place to start.
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is scheduled to open on March 4, 2020 at Disney Hollywood Studios. The new attraction will use advanced projection mapping and props to bring cartoon worlds to life! To accompany this new attraction, Disney is debuting a new theater.
Where will the Mickey Shorts Theater be located? It’s taking over the spot of the former Path of the Jedi in Animation Courtyard. It’s mind blowing to us that we’re waiting until 2020 for new Mickey Mouse-themed attractions. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is the FIRST-ever Mickey Mouse-themed ride. In Disney’s nearly 65 years of making ride-through attractions, it’s hard to believe that they’ve skipped over Mickey Mouse!
We’re excited to see how these attractions fare with the crowds at Disney Hollywood Studios. Since the opening of Toy Story Land in 2018, and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in 2019, the theme park has been greatly enhanced. Soon guests will have a fifth new ride and a new theater experience to enjoy some of Disney’s best characters.
