Here’s why you should add Gideon’s Bakehouse to your to-do list the next time you visit Disney Springs in the Walt Disney World Resort.
Part of the fun of Disney Springs is exploring the many shops and snacking spots around the shopping district. In fact, Disney Springs is set up to help you wander to an unexpected and delightful place. The unassuming storefront of Gideon’s Bakehouse doesn’t necessarily tell the story that’s within. However, after one step inside this Victorian-style bakery, and you’ll feel its instant, whimsical magic.
The artwork on the walls tell a peculiar story. They are Tim Burton-esque, with large, doll eyes that creepily stare back at you. As the story goes, the bakery owned once purchased an odd cookbook from the turn of the 20th century. It belonged to a strange boy named Gideon, and the recipes have been scary-good ever since.
So what should you buy inside of this marvelous bakery? Well, there’s plenty to choose from! We highly recommend the classic, Original Chocolate Chip Cookie. It’s a massive, morsel-covered cookie which hunks of sparkling salt and a variety of vanilla to kick in the flavor. According to the bakehouse’s website, their Original Chocolate Chip cookie “has been named everything from Best in Orlando to Best on Planet Earth.” Honestly, we’re not surprised! Just arrive to the storefront and you’ll find out whether or not there’s a virtual queue needed.
