New room upgrades for Disney’s Polynesian Resort include Moana theming within the rooms for relaxed island vibes.
Disney’s Polynesian Resort is one of the most demanded—and expensive—properties at the Walt Disney World Resort. This hotel near the Magic Kingdom mostly closed last year for heavy refurbishments. All of this is ahead of the Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary celebration that begins on October 1, 2021. The hotel is expected to reopen this summer but you can check out the room upgrades here before you book.
Touches of Moana are placed around the rooms. We love the Polynesian-inspired hardware and designs. The fresh color palette is also seen on the bed pillows and headboards. However, we also appreciate that the Moana theming isn’t totally covering the room.
The Poly has some of our favorite bathrooms. They have plenty of room so that guests can easily get ready before heading to the parks that day. The stonework and wooden planks give a nice vibe to these remodeled bathrooms!

Wall murals and even glimpses of Hei Hei are all over the walls. This feel certainly spruces up the previous vibes of the Polynesian Resort rooms which have far fewer details.
