The thrilling attraction has broken ground!
When visiting Universal’s Islands of Adventure, it’s impossible to miss the construction sites around Jurassic Park Island. Many of the trees have been removed and gray walls barricade several sites. It’s an unusual look for this theme park as many new attractions have been constructed away from the central view of the lagoon. However, Islands of Adventure is getting ready for its newest thrill ride!
Recent patents show that this ride might be named the Velocicoaster, a high-speed race around Jurassic Park Island. There’s no word if this will come from the Jurassic Park or Jurassic World franchise. Some speculate that the coaster will be inspired by the first Jurassic World film where Owen raced his motorbike next to his pack of raptors. This would be a little strange to us unless Jurassic Park Island is either rethemed to Jurassic World Island or simply Jurassic Island to accommodate both franchises.
Accounts on Twitter have also reported what the ride layout will be with some of the track racing over the water near Hogsmeade Village!
Though we love motorbike coasters, we also worry that Universal might be doubling up on this type of attraction. Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure is easily the resort’s best thrill ride and part of it uses the same ride experience (the sidecar feels more like a traditional coaster).
As Universal has yet to announce any details about this attraction, we eagerly await its arrival hopefully in summer 2020.
