A spoiler-free review of the fun and nostalgic Stranger Things Drive-Into Experience located in Downtown Los Angeles, California.
The Stranger Things series on Netflix is wildly fun for a few reasons. Not only does it have a great cast and creepy monsters, but the 80s throwback is incredibly entertaining. So, when we heard that a Stranger Things Dive-Into Experience was headed to Los Angeles, we became incredibly excited!

The entire experience lasted about an hour and took place in a parking lot in downtown Los Angeles. Overall, arriving was a breeze. As we waited to get into the main show parts, the there were plenty of food items and entertainment. In fact, an entire Starcourt scene was recreated, neon lights, food, and all! A DJ pumped some throwbacks while we listed.
If you’re down for some retro mall food, you can order at Starcourt. You’ll be handed a menu and you can order at starcourtfood.com. Most of the items were your standard soda, pizza, pretzels, corn dogs, and candy. But true Stranger Things fans might want the Scoops Ahoy (which is just chocolate and vanilla Dreyer’s Ice Cream in a themed cup).
For those who love merch, there’s plenty of it here. Since guests can’t leave their car, a runner grabs the items of your choice. The merchandise stations are set up like at concerts. So, there are tees, sweaters, hats, and other cool items to grab.
To keep this post spoiler-free, we aren’t posting photos or giving details about the actual experience. However, we will say to expect plenty of your favorite characters, special effects, and demogorgons! After all, what would a Stranger Things experience be without those?

Cars are allowed inside, about 24 at a time (from what we’ve been told). There are times when your car stops to watch a scene unfold before you go to the next space. However, you do pretty much stay moving the entire time. Every scene was incredibly entertaining. The cast came close to our car, making us feel like we’ve stepped into the show! The pace felt great and the set pieces were well done. With tickets starting at $59 per car, it was certainly worth the price!
Because of the scary features, we think that this event is best for kids 10 and older. If the show Stranger Things scares them, then you might want to find a babysitter for the night. There’s a much scarier factor for in-person than on the TV!
Tickets are available now as more have been released for 2020 and 2021. Website and Tickets: https://strangerthingsdriveinto.com/
With California re-entering the lockdown, the Stranger Things Drive-Into Experience’s website states that they can remain open. A disclaimer at the top of the page states that the experience follows all protocols. Of course, things could always change. If that happens, we expect to see an update on the website.
Overall, we’re incredibly happy that we went through this experience, especially in a time when outdoor entertainment is scarce. To get updates on Disney and Universal theme parks, sign up for our free e-mail newsletter! You can also follow us on Instagram and Twitter.
