We uncovered when Universal Orlando’s Volcano Bay water park will reopen to guests after its first-ever seasonal closure.
When Volcano Bay opened at the Universal Orlando Resort in May 2017, guests crowded at the chance to experience this amazing water park. First described as Universal’s “third theme park” Volcano Bay’s theming is excellent and so are its many water slides.
Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this water park destination has seen a drastic decrease in park attendance. So Universal made the tough call to close Volcano Bay starting in earth November. So when will it reopen?
Update (February 17, 2021): Volcano Bay will reopen on February 27, 2021!
The Universal Orlando Resort plans to reopen Volcano Bay in March of 2021 February 27, 2021. Though plans could change depending on demand. If tourism somehow increases as it often does in late February, Universal may opt to reopen Volcano Bay ahead of time. However, for now, it’s scheduled to welcome back guests just in time for Spring Break.

Though Volcano Bay has closed in the past due to inclement weather, it’s never closed for an entire season. Universal certainly didn’t make this choice lightly. At first, the water park only remained open on the weekends and select weekdays. However, even ahead of the busier holiday season, Universal decided to close the water park entirely.
