The Walt Disney World Resort updated the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance virtual queue rules at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is one of the most in-demand attractions at the Walt Disney World Resort. Since its opening in December 2019, guests have piled up to experience this unique, nearly 20-minute long epic attraction. Despite the ride being amazing, Rise of the Resistance is also ranked as one Resort’s worst experiences.
The reason for this low score comes from the boarding pass needed to experience this attraction. Guests had to access the virtual queue from their phones at the start of the day and obtain a boarding pass. Often times, these passes run out within seconds. To mend this, Disney is now adding early access to the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance virtual queue. Beginning November 3rd, guests may use their Walt Disney World app to access a boarding group beginning at 7am.
To get a boarding pass, log into the Walt Disney World mobile app and make sure that all of your tickets have a Disney Park Pass for Hollywood Studios that day. According to Disney, “This can be done before you leave your Disney resort hotel, or wherever else nearby you might be at that time.”
We expect that the 7am boarding passes will go quickly, so log into your app early in the day. If you miss the 7am boarding group, you’ll be allowed another shot onto the ride at 2pm. However, you must be inside of Disney’s Hollywood Studios to access the second boarding group.

Disney updated its Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance boarding groups after reopening this summer. To prevent crowding, guests could come later in the day and still try to join the virtual queue. Hopefully, this new procedure will give guests who don’t obtain a boarding pass some more flexibility throughout their day.
