The Magic Kingdom’s holiday party is back! Here are some must-know tips before you go!
If you’re looking for some extra Christmas magic during your holiday trip to the Walt Disney World Resort, grab tickets to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! On select nights, the Magic Kingdom Park transforms into a winter wonderland with special shows, a parade, food, magical attractions, and a fireworks display!
Here are the dates:
November Dates: 8, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 19, 21, 22, & 24
December Dates: 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 13, 15, 17, 19, 20, & 22
Magic Tip: Keep in mind, if you’re visiting on one of these dates, the Magic Kingdom will close early. This may get in the way of booking reservations for popular restaurants such as Be Our Guest, as the time slots become very limited on shorter days.
During this party there’s a parade, special fireworks, complimentary treats, and much more! This nighttime event is at an extra cost (starting at $99 per ticket). You do not need additional paid admission to get into the party. However, this party does not come with the day ticket.
New to this year’s Christmas Party are the holiday overlays of Space Mountain and the Tomorrowland Speedway. On Space Mountain, sweet swirling disco Christmas lights set to a rockin’ holiday song. It’s a bit of an odd choice for an overlay, but it’s certainly a change up! For fans of the Tomorrowland Speedway, pack a sweater because nights can get chilly as you race through a winter nighttime wonderland.
Magic Tip: If you’re planning on riding Space Mountain or the Tomorrowland Speedway, you may want to experience them early. We recommend this so that you have plenty of time to grab spots for the parade and fireworks.
Several classic characters and Disney princesses make their way into this party, many wearing special holiday costumes. Most of these characters can be seen from floats during Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade. However, Jack Skellington in his Sandy Claws suit tends to be a holiday favorite. We’ve seen lines for him that stretch over 2 hours long! If you want to get your photo with your favorite character, we recommend heading to them first.
Most attraction wait times decrease significantly during the party compared to daytime waits. However, popular rides like the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train still have 30-50 minute waits on most nights. We strongly recommend skipping any wait longer than a 20 minutes and experiencing other attractions instead. You should make time to try the holiday treats, see the Christmas parade, and watch the fireworks, as these are the bulk of the added attractions. It also snows on Main Street, which gives a very magical feel as you enter!
For the Christmas treats, each land usually hosts a snack station. These complimentary snacks are cookies, pretzels, hot coco, apple cider, and Fanta soda. For even more holiday food options, check out these delicious bites, many of which are exclusive to the party.
Magic Tip: Buy your tickets early as nights for this event are already selling out!
Also new this year are Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks, a festive new addition to the holiday entertainment lineup. The former Holiday Wishes show is no more, but we believe that Minnie’s Wonderful Christmas time is a much better replacement. While we wish that the projections told a better story like they do during Halloween, the fireworks display in Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime is stunning!
Returning this year is a “holly jolly” after hours event at Tony’s Most Merriest Town Square Party. This is an add-on to your MVM Christmas Party ticket and comes with Italian hors d’oeuvres, extra treats like Christmas cookies and cannoli, and beer and wine. The event is all ages, but the alcoholic beverages are 21+ only. There’s also private parade viewing for those who purchase this. The add-on costs $99 (plus tax) per person, which is a bit steep for the offerings (this means you’d pay $200 or more for the party in total).
As always, we recommend watching the later parade and shows to get the best viewing. Wait until after the fireworks and then see the final parade as crowds tend to thin out by then. Also remember to purchase your tickets in advance for a bit of a discount:
