Disney-owned hotels and stores are closing, including locations in Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort and Disney Springs in Walt Disney World. Though the theme parks all closed this weekend, the hotels and retail locations were scheduled to remain open. However, new federal guidelines have led to a change.
Disney has been proactive in closing its theme parks in effort to increase its guest and cast member safety. As new cases of COVID-19, also known at the coronavirus, spread across the United States, many locations are shutting their doors. Other retail locations within Disney Springs and Downtown Disney may remain open at the owner’s choice or until further regulations are passed.
The hotels now close at 5pm on Friday, March 20, 2020. Hopefully the extra few days will allow guests to change their travel plans and head home.
Furthermore, Disney will begin store closures on March 17, 2020. Guests looking to purchase Disney-related items can still find many of them on ShopDisney.com. We think ShopDisney is great, especially since there are discounts and deals not usually found in the stores.
