A review of the new PB&J Mochi found at the Tropical Hideaway in Disneyland.
We were surprised by the new lineup of snacks found at Disneyland’s The Tropical Hideaway. This snack spot seems to be a foodie favorite and it gets new menu items seasonally.
Perhaps the most surprising add is the PB & J Mochi. We’ve never heard of this version before! If you’re not familiar with mochi, it’s a Japanese dessert usually made of pounded, sticky rice and ice cream. The rice tastes more like a squishy gummy more than anything, and this one doesn’t have ice cream. Instead, the mochi is filled with delicious gobs of sweet peanut butter! The top is drizzled with raspberry jelly sauce and peanut butter dust.
The taste was similar to those Uncrustables that kids love to eat. However, this was much sweeter and far more dessert-like than a sandwich. Although it was rich, we loved every bite.
PB & J Mochi comes with three “mounds” and are perfect for sharing. They are a bit hard to cut up, so we don’t recommend trying that.
Ordering Tip: Lines for the Dole Whip station at the Tropical Hideaway can become very long. However, you don’t have to wait in this to get the mochi. Instead, move to the right side of the line and talk to the cast members serving the bao. They can grab the mochi for you before you checkout!
There’s still no word if the PB & J Mochi are seasonal or if they’ll stick around for a while. Since the Tropical Hideaway is so popular now, it may just have an extended menu from now on.
