We have amazing new Avengers Campus details for the upcoming Marvel land at the Disneyland Resort. From new attractions to delicious bites, this land looks totally amazing! Just as promised, Disney delivers a summer 2020 debut for its Marvel-themed land. Avengers Campus opens at the Disney California Adventure on July 18, 2020.
1. C.A.M.P.U.S. Is an Acronym – As it turns out, CAMPUS really stands for Centralized Assembly Mobilized to Prepare, Unite, and Safeguard. It’s a lot to remember, but we’ll touch on its meaning at the end of this post.
2. You’ll Shoot Web! – WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure is a family-friendly 3-D dark ride. We love that guests of all ages can enjoy this new attraction. Disney’s Imagineers created an augmented web-shooting tech without a control. Meaning, you’ll be able to shoot webs from your wrist during WEB SLINGERS! The technology behind this captures hand gestures 60 times a second. Pretty insane.
3. True to the Movies – Tom Holland reprises his role as Spider-Man by providing the web slinger’s voice. We still don’t have confirmation if Disney designed a Spider-Man animatronic for the ride, but we’re fairly certain that’s the case.
4. Tivan Tower – The Guardians of the Galaxy—Mission: BREAKOUT! ride will officially become part of Avengers Campus. At the moment, it’s part of Hollywood Land, but never quite seemed to fit. Even better, once Avengers Campus opens, guests can easily walk from Hollywood Land to the rest of Disney California Adventure. At the moment, it’s just a dead end near Guardians.
5. Explore Other Rides – During WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure, guests will virtually move throughout Avengers Campus, slinging web and more. Some spots include breaking into the Tivan Tower and PYM Test Kitchen to wrangle runaway spider tech. The idea sort of reminds us of exploring Tomorrowland on the PeopleMover – one of our favorite, long-lost Disneyland rides.
6. Take a Spider-Bot Home – Some of the new merch in Avengers Campus includes a remote-controlled Spider-Bot. These little robotic critters are upgradeable with abilities matching Black Panther, Iron Man, or Black Widow!
7. Look Like Spidey – The WEB Suppliers store sells high-tech gear including Spider-Man light goggles that display 17 different expressions!
8. Spidey Flies High – A Spider-Man stuntronic will take to the skies over Avengers Campus. See Spider-Man leap from the buildings – up to 60 feet in the air – before landing to meet guests.
9. Villain Battles – Like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Avengers Campus will be home to mini shows around the land. Live battles with villains, including the Taskmaster from Black Window, are on their way!
10. Learn Mystic Arts – The Doctor Strange Sanctum show has guests meeting up with the superhero. They’ll even learn some of his signature mystic arts moves!
11. Even Better at Night – Many elements of Marvel Campus light up at night, including Doctor Strange’s Sanctum. We can’t wait to see how Avengers Campus will illuminate!
12. Sample Little Big Bites – The PYM Test Kitchen grows and shrinks food! The quick-service restaurant is designed after a quantum tunnel and overhead, pretzels and other snacks grow using Pym Particles. There’s even an oversized chicken sandwich with tiny bun!
13. Drink in Reverse – Several new Marvel-themed drinks have been added to the Pym Tasting Lab. Check out our post with the awesome list! One of the coolest features is the bottom-filling cups. We’ve seen these at concerts before and they are out of this world.
14. “Have You Ever Tried Shawarma?” – Everybody knows that the Avengers love Shawarma, and now you can try their favorite meal as well. Shawarma Palace serves up the middle eastern dish daily – including an Impossible plant-based falafel version!
15. Super Churros – After a long of fighting super villains, you’ll need a sweet reward. Stop by Terran Treats for Sweet Spiral Rations which are colorful rolled up churros!
15. Become a Hero – The overall objective of Avengers Campus is to become a superhero and defend Earth! The Campus is a recruitment center so that the bad guys know not to mess with our planet. Best of all, after slinging with Spidey, mystifying for Doctor Strange, and taking on the Taskmaster, there’s still more to do. The final phase of Avengers Campus includes a ride where guests suit up to take on baddies in Wakanda. Unfortunately, the final phase won’t open for a few years. However, just like the Avengers series, it’s always exciting to know that there’s more.
